New Year, New Colors

At the start of each calendar year, the top paint manufacturers announce their color of the year! This usually comes off the back of Pantone’s color of the year announcement and while there are often similarities in color choices it’s always something unique and defining for the design year ahead.

Pantone marked 2025 as Mocha Mousse’s year, “a mellow brown infused with a sensorial and comforting warmth.” Similarly, Benjamin Moore announced Cinnamon Slate as the 2025 Color of the Year, “a warm and inviting hue that combines heathered plum with velvety brown.” We see a theme too!

Lastly, Sherwin Williams takes a bit of a different spin on the Color of the Year by creating a color capsule inclusive of nine separate paints that can be curated to any style and balance each other out if used together. There is an overwhelming presence of brown tones in all three selections. Clearly we should be ready to see earthy warm tones everywhere!
